Thank you for visiting our website. I am Nozomi Kurosawa, Executive Director of the Hyperhidrosis Support Group, NPO.

Have you heard of a disease called "hyperhidrosis”? Perhaps those who are not affected by it may have the impression that it is just a condition that causes a lot of sweating.

Hyperhidrosis is not just a sweating problem, but a disease that causes patients to sweat from the moment they wake up to the moment they go to bed, all hours of the day. The sweating areas vary from person to person, including "palmoplantar hyperhidrosis," which causes excessive sweating mainly on the hands and feet, "craniofacial hyperhidrosis" around the head, "axillary hyperhidrosis" under the arms, and "generalized hyperhidrosis," which is not restricted to any specific area.

Each person has different areas of sweating and different problems. For example, sweaty palms are often noticed from an early age because we always use our hands in our daily lives. Specifically, some children struggle because of torn test papers or inability to hold hands, and they are left to suffer alone.

One of the main reasons why hyperhidrosis is not widely recognized is that both the sufferer and their family members view the sweating as a physical idiosyncrasy and are unaware that it is a disease. In addition, hyperhidrosis patients themselves may hide their sweating issues due to embarrassment. For these reasons, hyperhidrosis is called the “silent” handicap. I myself have palmoplantar hyperhidrosis, and even after 40 years since I was in elementary school, awareness of the disease remains as low as ever, and it pains me to hear the stories of young people who suffer from it.

Hyperhidrosis is a disease that reduces one’s quality of life daily, yet there was not a single organization for supporting the sufferers. For this reason, we have established a non-profit organization to support people with hyperhidrosis and raise awareness of the disease.

We hope that our organization will be a source of emotional support for you.
